Goddess Cleaning Group selected as a finalist for National Awards

Stacey Barrass of Goddess Cleaning Group has been selected as a finalist for the 2019 AusMumpreneur Awards in the Victorian Business Excellence category.

The AusMumpreneur Awards presented by AusMumpreneur and The Women’s Business School celebrate and recognize Australian Mums in business achieving outstanding success in areas such as business excellence, product development, customer service and digital innovation. The awards are designed to recognize the growing number of women who successfully balance motherhood and business in a way that suits their life and family.

Nine years ago, domestic violence led Stacey Barrass to single parenthood. She needed to put food on the table for her three young boys – then aged 18 months, 4 and 7 – and keep a roof over her family’s head so she set out to find part-time work as a cleaner.

But her attention to detail, strong work ethic and can-do attitude weren’t enough for prospective employers who needed her to commit to more hours and days of work. Stacey backed herself even when others wouldn’t… and this was the beginning of what is now the highly successful Goddess Cleaning Group.

From humble beginnings as a solo cleaner, Stacey has now built a thriving social enterprise that gives opportunities to women who find themselves in similar situations to what she was in nine years ago. Today she employs 17 individuals who she mentors and supports to help rebuild their self-esteem and confidence, giving them the skills they need to succeed both professionally and personally.

The reward for Stacey is seeing these women build financially viable futures for their family as they rise out of the vicious cycle of disadvantage they have found themselves trapped in.

“We work together with other organisations within our local community to support individuals from disadvantage and domestic violence backgrounds. We believe that everyone in the world deserves that same opportunity to change their life by receiving a hand-up through supportive, flexible and empathetic employment.”

More than that, Stacey has built a professional team who are wholeheartedly invested in her vision of delivering a quality cleaning service tailored to each and every client.
